Cotswolds Training

Better understanding

Most of us have had training that gives us information.

We learn the terminology. We recognise the signs. We complete the course.

And then we return to real life — where people rarely fit neatly into what we've just been taught.

Neurodivergence doesn't look the same in everyone.

Trauma isn't always obvious.

Domestic abuse rarely follows the simple story we expect it to.

And knowing about something doesn't necessarily mean we know how to respond when it's happening in front of us.

That's the gap this training is designed to close.

Cotswolds Counselling training brings together psychological understanding, therapeutic practice and the realities of working and living alongside people.

It's designed to create more than awareness.

To build confidence.
To challenge assumptions.
To make difficult situations easier to understand.
And, most importantly, to change what we do next.

Where do you want to make a difference?

Organisations

Build teams that understand people better.

The best organisations don't simply have policies around neurodiversity, wellbeing, trauma and domestic abuse.

Their people know what those policies mean when a real person is sitting in front of them.

Training helps teams move from awareness to confident practice — whether that's supporting a neurodivergent employee, responding to distress, recognising possible domestic abuse or understanding behaviour that doesn't immediately make sense.

For workplaces, charities, education, health and social-care settings and organisations working directly with people.

Professionals

Because real people don't arrive like case studies.

They arrive with overlapping experiences.

ADHD alongside trauma.

Autism alongside anxiety.

Relationship difficulties alongside masking and burnout.

Domestic abuse without disclosure.

A client may present with one problem while something very different is happening underneath it.

Professional training is designed for counsellors, therapists and helping professionals who want to become more confident working with that complexity.

Not simply more theory.

Better thinking. Better questions. Better practice.

Workshops

Some things become easier when they finally make sense.

A relationship stuck in the same argument.

A child holding everything together all day and falling apart at home.

A brain that knows exactly what needs doing but can't seem to begin.

A nervous system reacting to something that logically doesn't feel dangerous.

Sometimes understanding what's happening changes the conversation completely.

Workshops bring psychology into everyday life — giving individuals, couples, parents and carers practical ways of understanding themselves and the people they care about.

Our core training areas

Neurodivergence

Beyond awareness.

Understanding ADHD and autism as lived experiences rather than lists of symptoms.

Explore communication, sensory differences, executive functioning, emotional regulation, masking, burnout and relationships — and consider what genuinely neurodivergence-informed support looks like in practice.

Trauma

Beyond “what happened?”

Trauma can shape the way people experience safety, relationships, trust, emotion and threat.

Trauma-informed training helps us recognise those adaptations and consider how our own systems, services and interactions can either increase distress or help create safety.

Domestic Abuse

Beyond “why don't they leave?”

Domestic abuse is about far more than individual incidents of physical violence.

Understanding coercive control, patterns of behaviour, psychological abuse, risk and the realities of disclosure helps us move away from judgement and towards safer, more informed responses.

Information isn't the outcome.

The real test of training happens afterwards.

In the meeting where you notice something you previously would have missed.

In the therapy room when you ask a different question.

In the conversation where you respond with curiosity rather than assumption.

In the organisation that changes a process because it unintentionally disadvantages the very people it's supposed to support.

In the family where somebody finally says:

“That makes sense now.”

That's when learning becomes useful.

Learn differently. Think differently. Respond differently.

Training is available online and face-to-face, from focused sessions and workshops to half-day, full-day and bespoke programmes.
